APEL HEALTH SERVICES CENTER, INC.


APEL Health Services Center, Inc. is a community based Health Wellness & Disease prevention agency located in Jacksonville, FL. The program is centrally located on the Northwest Side of Duval County, an area with the largest reported number of health disparitiesaccording to the Duval County Department of Health.


Since the program's 1999 inception, the agency has provided services to over 5,000 at risk clients in the form of education, awareness, testing, counseling, workshop, seminars, and referrals services. Using an innovative street outreach approach, the agency has become a model in the outreach arena- attracting several collaborative partners and world-renowned foundations. In 2005, the agency was approached by Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals to host the Earvin "Magic" Johnson Health Fair & Community Forum. Over 800 people were in attendance to share in Magic's' story, the event set APEL apart from traditional interventions and launched a statewide presence.


From humbles beginnings to numerous awards and recognition, APEL has set the trend to become the leader in street outreach education and awareness to close the gap for health disparities. Qualified staff with over 25 years of combined experience operates the agency. Ken Stokes,Sr/Executive Director and dedicated Board of Directors play an intricate part in the success and sustainability of services at The APEL Health Services Center, Inc. Current Funding Partners include, The City of Jacksonville, Jaguars Foundation, Florida Department of Health, National AIDS Fund (Elton John/Ford Foundation), Duval County Department of Health & Department of Juvenile Justice.
